Michel DeGraff
Michel DeGraff is Faculty at Large in Linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and co-founder of the MIT-Haiti Initiative. His expertise lies in using language and linguistics for decolonisation and liberation, exploring how power and social justice intersect in anti-colonial struggles and the defence of human rights in Haiti and globally, including Palestine. A founding member of Akademi Kreyòl Ayisyen and a fellow of the Linguistic Society of America, he promotes Open Education Resources in Kreyòl for quality education and inclusion. He is currently a co-defendant, alongside MIT, in a lawsuit filed by the Brandeis Center Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism, which he critiques as an instance of anti-Palestinian linguistic trumperies against academic freedom and freedom of expression.
